Thomas Ashman PA of the Year

Recognizes

A current member of CAPA who demonstrates a long-term committment to furthering the PA profession in Canada.

Criteria

  • Must be a CAPA member in good standing.

It is desirable that the individual has achieved a significant complement of the criteria below:

  • Well recognized by members of the PA profession and others
  • Demonstrates long-term committment to furthering the PA profession in Canada
  • A vocal advocate for the PA profession
  • Actively makes outreach to influential stakeholders, government or others that can impact the advancement of the profession in Canada
  • Has engaged in an initiative that has raised awarement or helped the profession grow
  • A volunteer within their community

The CAPA Board reserves the right to abstain from selecting an award recipient from the nominations/candidates put forward if they do not appropriately fulfill the criteria listed above.

Who can be nominated?

Current PA members of CAPA, excluding previous winners within the last 5 years.

CAPA Board members cannot be nominated during their term.

Who can nominate?

Colleagues, co-workers, physicians, patients or friends, CAPA Board members and staff.

Self-nomination by an individual is excluded.

Send a detailed letter to the admin@capa-acam.ca Attention:  Awards Committee explaining why you feel the individual should be recognized.  See also What should be included in my nomination.

Evaluation of nominations

The Awards Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors.

Honour Roll

Recognizes

An individual for outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of the Canadian PA profession in Canada.

Criteria

  • Well recognized by member of the PA profession and others
  • Demonstrates a committment to furthering the PA profession in Canada

Anyone excluding previous award winners within the last 5 years.

CAPA Board members cannot be nominated during their term.

PARSEC/CAPA Educator

In collaboration with PARSEC, CAPA and PARSEC also recognizes the role of educators by jointly awarding one outstanding individual the PARSEC/CAPA PA Educator award.

Recognizes

An individual, team or site who has made a significant impact on the education of PAs in Canada.

Criteria

  • The award recipient will be an individual, team or site who has been involved in teaching PA students, either clinically or academically.  Some examples may include PA program faculty, clinical preceptors, guest facilitators, or course instructors. 
  • The criteria for the nominations are based upon roles outlined in the CAPA National Competency Profiles (CanMEDS-PA and EPA-PA). and adapted to reflect the roles of a PA educator.

The CAPA Board and the PARSEC Board reserve the right to abstain from selecting an award recipient from the nominations/candidates put forward if they do not appropriately fulfill the criteria listed above.

Who can be nominated?

PA program faculty, clinical preceptors, guest facilitators, team/site or course instrutors. The award recipient may be a PA, a physician, or from another professional background.

CAPA Board or PARSEC Board members cannot be nominated during their term.
