Editorial: A helping hand for doctors
The Ottawa Citizen – The Ottawa Hospital is attracting criticism from the group representing Ontario nurses over its hiring of two recently graduated physician assistants to work with orthopedic surgeons.
The nurses’ association complains that the assistants, who graduated from a two-year program at McMaster University, are not adequately trained to replace nurses, especially nurse-practitioners. The hospital says the two new employees, who are setting broken bones and assisting in the operating room, among other things, have improved patient care and helped with wait times…Read more…
