John Cunningham, MPAS, CCPA

Bio

I’m John Cunningham, many of you will know me as a Facilitator and Course Director for the Consortium PA program, or from shadowing me in the Emergency Department at Guelph General Hospital. Or, maybe you remember seeing me give the Physician Assistant Certification of Canada Chair`s (PACCC) report over the last few years. I am a proud PA, PA Educator and PA advocate.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first 5 civilian PAs employed in Ontario. Although I was originally trained through the Canadian Armed Forces (2002), I remain proud of my profession`s military history. I have been incredibly impressed by the quality of the students I have had the honour of facilitating and mentoring and I love being an Emerg PA.

In my 9 years with the PACCC (Test Committee Chair from 2008 to 2010 and Chair of PACCC from 2010 to 2016), I have focused on core national issues like Certification and Continuing Professional Development. I am now hoping to devote my efforts to the Ontario specific issues of consistent funding and becoming a Regulated Health Care Profession in the province.
