The Physician Assistant will work under the direct supervision of an immediately available attending Internist within a multidisciplinary team in an academic in-patient setting. The Physician Assistant will play a major role in facilitating consistent application of clinical protocols and continuity of care, and will also identify patients with acute clinical issues common to medical patients and work within the multidisciplinary team to appropriately manage patient care. The Physician Assistant will provide a full range of physician assistant services in accordance with privileges granted, request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health care resources as indicated, order diagnostic tests as applicable, prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
