Honourees
Every year CAPA recognizes one or more of its members with one of two awards: the CAPA Honour Roll and The Tom Ashman Physician Assistant of the Year Award. Award recipients will be recognized at the President’s Honour Luncheon at the CAPA Annual Conference.

The Award Nomination Process
Honour Roll
Recognizes:
- An individual for outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of the Canadian physician assistant profession within recent years
Criteria:
• Well recognized by members of the PA profession and others
• Demonstrated a commitment to furthering the PA profession in Canada within the last year
Who Can Be Nominated?
- Anyone, excluding the current CAPA Board of Directors, Honorary Members, and previous winners of the award
Who Can Nominate?
- Current members of CAPA
- Self-nomination by an individual PA is excluded
How to Nominate Someone:
- Send a brief letter to the Executive Director explaining why you feel the individual should be recognized
Evaluation of Nominations:
- Members of the CAPA Board of Directors and the Executive Director
Tom Ashman Physician Assistant of the Year
Recognizes:
- A current member of CAPA who has demonstrated a long-term commitment to furthering the PA professions in Canada
Criteria:
• Must be a CAPA PA member in good standing
It is desirable that the individual have achieved a significant complement of the criteria listed below:
• Well recognized by members of the PA profession and others
• Demonstrated a long-term commitment to furthering the PA profession in Canada
• Published writings advocating for the PA profession
• Demonstrated outreach to any or all segments of the PA profession
• Consistently demonstrates responsibility for own professional development
• A volunteer within their community
Who Can Be Nominated?
- Current PA Members of CAPA
Who Can Nominate?
- Colleagues, co-workers, physicians, patients, friends, or family members
- Self-nomination by an individual PA is excluded
